About Kyra

Kyra Sovronsky is a trumpet performer and educator, based in Salt Lake City, Utah. She is the first Suzuki Trumpet teacher in the state of Utah and loves teaching students of all ages.

Originally from New York, Kyra grew up as a “Suzuki kid”, starting the violin at the age of 2 and continuing through high school. Trumpet was brought into the mix at the age of 9, through public school band. Kyra followed her passion for the trumpet, earning both of her degrees in Trumpet Performance. She holds a Masters of Music from Northwestern University and a Bachelors of Music from Boston University.

Kyra has been teaching for over 15 years and has been a registered Suzuki teacher since 2018. She serves on the board of the Suzuki Association of Utah as Brass VP and as Brass Advisor to the Intermountain Suzuki String Institute.

In addition to her large private studio, Kyra is also an active performer. She is the Principal Trumpet in the Ballet West Orchestra and performs regularly with the Utah Symphony/Utah Opera.
